MERRY CHRISTMAS WITH VINH SON ELDERLY CARE CENTER

On Christmas Eve, December 24, 2023, the Viet-Aus Audit Company visited the elderly residents at Vinh Son Charity Nursing Home, a facility that provides care for over 100 elderly individuals facing difficult circumstances, located in Binh Loi, Binh Thanh District, Ho Chi Minh City.

Christmas is a season of joy, love, and sharing. With that spirit in mind, the Viet-Aus team visited Vinh Son Nursing Home to bring practical essential supplies as gifts and spent time together serving traditional Vietnamese pancakes (banh xeo) to the residents.

Vinh Son Charity Nursing Home is part of the Vinh Son Convent, situated at 102 Binh Loi (469 No Trang Long, Ward 13, Binh Thanh District, Ho Chi Minh City). The nursing home was established in 1997 and is managed by the nuns of the convent. Currently, the facility cares for nearly 100 individuals over the age of 70 who have no relatives and nowhere else to go.

For 18 years, the nursing home has been providing care from the moment the elderly enter until they peacefully pass away. Some residents, due to frail health, are unable to move and require constant assistance for daily activities.

Financial support primarily comes from Vinh Son Convent, the overseeing entity of the nursing home. Additionally, contributions from charitable individuals and volunteer groups play a crucial role in sustaining the operations.

Members of Viet-Aus, along with the Tuy Duyen charity group, visited and extended their warm regards to the residents. Together, they actively engaged in preparing traditional Vietnamese pancakes. Each step, from picking vegetables, washing them, cutting meat, peeling shrimp, to mixing the batter, was coordinated seamlessly.

Once the preparation was complete, the focus shifted to cooking the pancakes. With over 500 banh xeo to be shared among the elderly residents, staff, and supporting individuals, the pancake-making process was carried out with concentration and efficiency.

The fragrant pancakes, accompanied by fresh vegetables and dipping sauce, created an appetizing meal. The group continued working together to set up the dining area for the residents and distribute portions according to the guidance of the nuns and staff.

Before the meal, Mrs. Tu, representing the residents, expressed her gratitude to the company and the volunteer group: "We are very happy to enjoy this delicious traditional meal after a long time. We sincerely thank all the members of the delegation for their sacrifices and contributions, making this Christmas celebration so appealing. In the joy of Christmas, I also send wishes for peace and happiness to each one of us."

The journey concluded with a sense of fulfillment despite the fatigue from a long day spent in the kitchen. The memories left behind for each member were filled with joy at being able to provide a delicious meal and offer companionship, conversation, and care to the elderly. Once again, we wish the elderly residents good health, peace, and hope that there will always be many kind-hearted individuals extending their love and assistance to them in their twilight years. Special thanks to the Tuy Duyen volunteer group and the Vinh Son nuns for creating the opportunity for Viet-Aus to accompany this meaningful journey
