The 14th ASOSAI Assembly – Environmental audit for sustainable development

To begin, ASOSAI was established in 1979 and it stands for Asian Organisation of Supreme Audit Institutions and it is one of the regional groups of the International Organisation of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI).

The 14th ASOSAI Assembly was held in Hanoi from the 19th until 22nd of September 2018 and the State Audit of Vietnam (SAV) was the host of this event, as SAV is the Chairman of ASOSAI for the 2018-2021 term.

This is the first time in history that an ASOSAI event was organised in Vietnam and the fact that the ASOSAI members have choosen SAV as ASOSAI Chairman clearly illustrates the recognition by regional audit institutions of SAV's maturity, development and capability of handling responsibilities of ASOSAI community, as well as diplomatic activities in the field of public audit. SAV, by hosting the Assembly, has now a great opportunity to earn the trust of other ASOSAI members regarding SAV's capacity to host international-level events.

The theme of this 14th ASOSAI Assembly is an important item of the ASOSAI and it reflects the implication and attention of this institution to climate change problems and to the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. 60 international delegations presented papers on environmental issues facing the world today, and they made suggestions on how to use environmental auditing as an efficient tool for sustainable development.
